Permits and Inspections - Plumbing Permit

State of Illinois Plumbing Code (Current Edition)

Plumbing permits are required for new construction, substantial renovation or relocation of existing plumbing.

A plumbing permit is also required when replacing or repairing a water or sewer lateral that may affect the City’s main or protrudes into the public right-of-way. In addition, a street-cut permit may also be required for work affecting the City’s main.

A completed "Application for Building/Electrical/Plumbing Permit" must be accompanied with a proposed plan for the plumbing system along with the name of the plumber doing the work and his/her license number.

These plans will be forwarded to the Illinois Department of Public Health for their review and comments. All further correspondence and review will be conducted by the State Plumbing Inspector.

Applicants will have to notify the Illinois Department of Health at (618 )656-6680 to schedule an inspection with the State Plumbing Inspector. A copy of the inspection report will be forwarded to the City by the State Plumbing Inspector to be included with the permit files.

Letter of Completion

This permit will not receive any final certificate from the City.
