Police Department - Upgrades

Dispatch Area Over the past four years, the Police Department went through major renovations and upgrades. The Police Department has been completely remodeled including furniture, work stations, office lockers, painting and tiling of floors. The PD upgrades include a video monitoring system throughout the PD, including jail cells where prisoners are constantly monitored for their safety.

The following accomplishments were made in FY 2000/2001:

The DARE program was maintained in the elementary and junior high schools within our community. It received outstanding community support by those directly affected by the program and by other community members’ time, talent and money.

New furnishings in police department interview room were added to make the room more efficient as well as to present a more professional work environment.

New state of the art computer system installed throughout the PD.

New Identix System was installed in the booking room to aid in finger printing.

New Digital Photo System was installed to aid in the booking process of arrestees.

New electronic booking computers were purchased and installed.

A new, state-of-the-art communications center was purchased and activated. This center includes new furnishings, radios, cameras and computers.

The K-9 program continues to be an asset to the PD as well as surrounding departments. Drug searches at the high school are ongoing and have proven to be beneficial in the apprehension of drug related paraphernalia.

Continued participation in criminal exchange meetings with area departments encourages communication and participation among the Detective Divisions.

School Liaison Program was maintained at High School and continues to be an asset to the Police Department.

Top-of-the-line shotguns were purchased for all officers’ vehicles with drug seizure monies.
